PNG Musician and Entrepreneur Jokema Receives Prestigious MoniPlus Disability Award
Papua New Guinea musician and entrepreneur Honlly Isaac, popularly known as Jokema, has received one of the nation’s most prestigious awards for people living with disabilities. The 2025 MoniPlus Sir Bernard Chan Entrepreneur with a Disability Award was presented to him during the Ela Motors SME Awards, recognising his dedication to business, music, and community service.
The award was announced unexpectedly after Jokema completed his musical performance and delivered a candid message about the importance of creating opportunities for sustainable livelihoods.

“My purpose now is to look after my people in Morobe, empower young musicians, farmers, SMEs, and be an advocate for those living like me,” he said. “I want to show that a disability does not define one’s potential or contribution to society.”
Isaac’s journey to this point has been marked by both triumph and hardship. Following a car accident in 2018, he became paraplegic, losing the use of his legs. The setback, however, did not deter him from pursuing his passions. He now manages several businesses, including Jokema Inn, Jump Enterprises, Oil Palm Trucking, The Fixers, ZenX Security, and the Spinal Cord Injury Foundation, using his platform to support community development and mentor others.
“This award is not just for me. It is for all people living with disabilities who are working hard to lead productive and meaningful lives,” Isaac said. “I continue to make music, run businesses, and serve my community because my limitations do not define me.”
Sir Bernard Chan, who personally handed over the award, commended Jokema’s courage, creativity, and dedication to helping others overcome challenges.
“To receive recognition from someone as respected as Sir Bernard Chan is an immense honour,” Jokema said. “It encourages me to continue striving, not only in my career but in creating opportunities for others to thrive in life and business.”
