FIJI Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka paid a visit to Vodafone PNG’s office on Saturday to get an update on their operations.
Regional chief executive officer Pradeep Lal said Rabuka was briefed on Vodafone’s investments in the country and how they have been working with local counterparts.
Lal said Rabuka basically wanted to know where the company stands and how they have been working in the PNG.
“As we know Vodafone’s headquarters is in Fiji and we have not only been investing in PNG but in Kiribati, Vanuatu, Samoa and more,” he added.
“It was our opportunity to provide an update to Rabuka on how the business is performing.
“One of the key things Rabuka wanted to know was what we were doing to connect and focus on the rural areas of PNG.”
Rabuka told the board that they needed to provide good and quality services to all the 22 provinces of PNG.
He was welcomed in PNG tradition style and gifted bilums, baskets and traditional necklaces.
He was greeted by the Vodafone board and directors from Fiji.
Lal said the company is aggressively pursuing its plans and by December it anticipates providing the same coverage that Digicel has in the 22 provinces.
