Papua New Guinea Government Treasurer Ian Ling-Stuckey has brushed aside reports of Papua New Guinean workers being underpaid in Australia, through the Pacific Labour Mobility scheme.

A leaked payslip of one local staff working as a berry picker showed a payment of just over 100 Australian dollars or around K260 after tax and other deductions, for four days' work.
Mr. Ling-Stuckey says in PNG, an unskilled worker does not earn over K200 in a week.
He says, under the scheme, no skills are required and workers are paid a minimum of around 18 Australian dollars per hour or around K40 per hour, which is triple the minimum wage of K3.50 set for the country.
